The Glass Mermaid

Set on the Gold coast, Queensland, Sara Koch, a widowed antropologist, hires Janko Kavoic, a Croatian refugee working as a male escort, to wear the clothes and enact the gestures of her dead husband, who committed suicide the year before by walking into the sea. Unknown to Sara, Janko is grieving himself. The two fall in love, then Sara’s sixteen-year-old daughter comes to stay. (Five characters)

The Glass Mermaid is a deeply personal and brave work which in moments becomes a significant testimony to the primal potencies of death and grief.
