Miracles

An illiterate middle-aged cashier with deeply religious convictions, Immaculata, is working back late at the supermarket when God talks to her through the cash register – only God is female and Italian, and anoints Immaculata as her community representative. Immaculata, confused and deeply embarrassed, confesses to her priest who is outraged by her audacity but then miracles begin to happen in the supermarket. Comedy.

The Bulletin

‘This play is a gem – comic, imaginative and wise. It’s a joyful affirmation of the capacity of ordinary people to find in community and solidarity the miracle of authority over their own lives.’
